Accommodation in Bali

Update on 3 Jan 2011:

The accommodation suggestions originally provided (please scroll down to blog post posted on 2 Oct 2010) were provided based on the premise that the wedding was going to be in Seminyak. Whilst the wedding venue has now changed to Jimbaran Bay, we are still suggesting for guests to stay in the Seminyak/Legian region as:
1) It is a 30-40 minute drive to Jimbaran Bay (however, please note - depending on traffic, this drive can take up to an hour). On the wedding day, please allow an hour to be safe.
2) Most of the hotels in Jimbaran Bay are five star resorts (ie. there is little budget-mid market accommodation).
3) There is not much nightlife in Jimbaran Bay compared to Seminyak where there are many shops, restaurants and bars.
4) We will be staying in Seminyak in the lead up to the wedding (we will only be moving to Ayana on 9 July).

For those who may be interested at staying at Ayana Resort, please refer to table below for the discounted room rates (to enlarge, please click on the table). Note that these prices are only valid if we can secure a minimum of 10 rooms (ie. if there is insufficient demand, we will be unable to book the rooms at the rates below). Please refer to Ayana's website for further information on each of the rooms/villas available for booking. Contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in staying at Ayana as we will need them to block out rooms (assuming we have enough people to book 10 rooms).

For other accommodation suggestions in Jimbaran Bay, refer below:
Jahamal Private Resort & Spa from USD 275 a night (approx 2 minutes drive to wedding venue)
Jimbaran Puri Bali by Orient Express from USD 355 a night (approx 2 minutes drive to wedding venue)
Gending Kedis & Villas & Spa Estate from USD 360 a night (approx 1 minutes walk to wedding venue)
Intercontinental Bali Resort from USD 213 per night (approx 4 minutes drive to wedding venue)

Please also visit TripAdvisor to get more ideas for Jimbaran Bay Accommodation.

I have had a few guests mention they are interested in staying in Ubud whilst in Bali. It is approximately 45 minutes to an hour's drive from Ubud to Jimbaran Bay (one way) so please  allow adequate travel time on the day. If you will be in Bali for a while leading up to the wedding (e.g. a week), it might be more convenient/easier to spend two nights in Ubud in the earlier part of your trip and spend the remainder of your trip in an area closer to Jimbaran Bay.

We apologise in advance (again) for any inconvenience caused by the change in wedding venue.

Please feel free to let us know if there's anything else we can assist with.

Thanks
Su Jen & Shane

Getting married in Bali will be the first time we visit Bali, therefore the accommodation suggestions below have been recommended by friends/family who have visited previously. Accommodation with varying price ranges have been provided so hopefully there is something for everyone!

It is strongly recommended that you organise your accommodation as soon as possible because July is the beginning of the "high" season in Bali.

*All prices listed below are approximate only.

Seminyak

Seminyak is around 30 minutes drive from Bali International Airport and is situated in the north between Legian and Canggu. Famous for its beautiful sunsets, Seminyak is also the high end spa and boutique shopping capital of Bali.

The Harmony Hotel from AUD 50 per night
Pelangi Bali Hotel from USD 110 per night
Hotel Sofitel Seminyak from AUD 200 per night

Legian
You may also wish to stay in Legian which is situated between Seminyak and Kuta only 20 minutes from the airport. Legian is a popular surf beach.

Puri Damai from USD $58 per night
Legian Beach Hotel from USD 220 per night
Bali Niksoma from USD 225 per night
Please also visit Tripadvisor to get more ideas for Legian accomodation:

Villas
For those travelling in large groups (e.g. families, groups of friends) and planning on staying for a few days (e.g. 5 days), hiring a Villa and sharing the cost is a great option:

Laksmana Villas, Seminyak - Laksmana Villas has 8 villas available ranging from three to five bedrooms per villa. For example, Villa Aliya has four bedrooms and costs USD $750 per night for eight guests.

Villas, Seminyak - Aside from one bedroom villas, The Villas also have two bedroom and three bedroom villas available. Three bedroom villas start at USD 455 for three bedroom villa.

Alam Warna, Seminyak - 3 bedroom villas starting from USD 415

Cicada Luxury Townhouses, Seminyak - 3 bedroom townhouses starting from USD 365

If anyone has any additional recommendation/suggestions to the above, please let us know so that they can be included on this page.
